With Belinda Gates at the Taste of 502
This week’s Most Interesting People in the ‘Ville are Taste of 502 founder Belinda Gates and lawyer Karen Faulkner, who’s running for Jefferson County Attorney.

Gates helped create Restaurant Week, a celebration that encourages us all to go out to dinner at a bargain price. I met up with her at the Hyatt over Shrimp and Grits, one of the items available at her crowded kickoff event. Gates is a refugee from corporate America with some cool hobbies.
Faulkner, who’s just 33, is taking on a powerful incumbent in Mike O’Connell, but believes her race is winnable. For one thing, she’s calling for an end to the expectation that courthouse employees contribute to political campaigns. She’s also a part-time actress. We met at her busy downtown office.
My Top Five this week includes the shakeup at Greater Louisville Inc., a new initiative by the Health Department to improve citizens’ health (primarily by attacking smoking and obesity), and why you’re going to be seeing more facial hair on folks buying into Rick Pitino’s motivational strategy for keeping a win streak alive. I also comment on the Netflix series House of Cards and suggest you go out to eat.
